MFPA is a consulting engineering firm which since 1995 has been specializing in the field and providing a full range of winter maintenance consulting services including: Road Weather Information (RWIS) system design, deployment and operation; information/asset management systems (GIS), application development decision support systems and salt management reviews.
MFPA was responsible for the initial implementation of the Ottawa RWIS network in 1996 (now 12 sites) and since that time has been involved in its maintenance service and administration. MFPA is often retained as an RWIS subject matter expert due to the complete range of services they have provided. MFPA assisted Environment Canada in 1997 with the development of a business case for a provincial and national scale RWIS Network. The work was later used as the basis for the Road Weather System for Canada (RWSC) proposal. MFPA is also the RWIS consultant for the Alberta Transportation ATIS ATMS Blueprint for Highway 2. The firm has studied, selected and developed a detailed implementation plan and specification for a comprehensive RWIS network on Alberta’s National Highway System.

MFPA designed and project managed Canada’s first Fixed Automated Spray Technology FAST system near PrescottOntario in 2000. The installation has eliminated weather related accidents since deployment (previous year dozens of winter accidents). MFPA have been involved in the design/ implementation of eight FAST systems in Ontario and four in Alberta. The firm’s sister company, III Intelligent Infrastructure Installation Ltd. is an electrical contracting firm which, on client request, installs and services RWIS and FAST equipment

MFPA Head office is in OttawaOntario and is opening an office in CalgaryAlberta which will be providing a range of atmospheric and RWIS forecasting and analytical services for their clients.
