Notes:
-
Most of these links go to WWW pages, but some
are to telnet or ftp sites. In order to log on to a telnet site, type "guest"
at the username prompt and use your email address as a password.
-
After that, you are on your own, since you
will then be logged into a remote computer which could be using a variety
of operating systems and protocols. There are many books available on how
to use telnet sites.
-
If the link is to an ftp site, you will log
in as "anonymous" and use your email address as the password, if requested.
-
Type "help" for a list of commands available
to you - they are unix based. Again, there are many books available on
how to use ftp sites.
-
In both cases, asking around to your infomatics
or computer systems people will usually get you the information you need
to operate these sites.
